Five years come and gone

This picture was taken in late afternoon today. A beautiful, winter sky. There's much that I've been pondering lately. Yeah, I ponder a lot. Ha! If you've ever read this blog - back in the day - for long, you know I ponder. And muse. And get all thinky. It's what I do, how I write.

I've had this blog for more than five years now. I started it in December of 2008, as I was gathering the courage to send off a piece of erotica for a submission call. I'd written the story almost twenty years earlier, but had recently edited it a bit. That piece was "Wet As Spring", and it was accepted and published in Coming Together: Al Fresco, an ebook. My first print publication (of erotica, my poetry's been published in many places) was my story "Till the Storm Breaks" in Best Erotic Romance. That was in 2011, three years after I started my blog. I've now had eight (8) stories published. That doesn't seem like much to me. I'm not very prolific, especially these days.

This evening I've been thinking about the friends I made through blogging. Many of them are now real-life friends, people I've shared meals with, read erotica in public with, have come to care about. Some that I've met live too far away to get together with, but I'm sure if one or the other is in the same area in the future, we will make every effort to meet up. Some I have yet to meet, and I look forward to the day I will. There is a special ... joy and ease when you meet other folks that get joy out of writing erotica (and yeah, there's more than one kind of joy, hahaha). Because we write out what amounts to our sexual fantasies (in some form or another), put them on the page (paper or digital) for others to read, there always seemed to be a sort of freedom in our conversations, no matter the topic.

Yeah, I miss those days when we'd hang out on our blogs and be able to write long, thoughtful posts, or short funny one, or anything along the continuum, and have thoughtful or fun - or both! - conversations in the comments. And yeah, I realize it was just one chapter, and the page must be turned. Still, I keep this place, my little bit of cyberspace, and post once in a while. I still get a fair number of hits, and I'm pleased to see a bit more wide-ranging reading going on, not just my blow job or BDSM posts (the 50 shades effect).

I want to write more here. But I don't know what to write about. And yeah, this is old, tired ground. But we do tend to travel the same paths. I'm getting the itch to write some erotica again. It's been awhile since I've written any. I feel out-of-practice. Wish me luck.

Five years ago, on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, I wrote not one, but three blog posts! This is one of them: http://erobintica.blogspot.com/2009/01/beneath-surface.html. The picture I'm talking about in that post is now gone, a casualty of changing blog themes. I could never figure out how to place it back where I had it with the new template. But here it is. I'm still looking below the surface.

Coming Together to Share the Love today

Today I'm guest blogging over at Lisabet Sarai's Beyond Romance blog for the Share the Love blog bash this month. We're celebrating the Coming Together series, and because my very first accepted piece of erotica was Wet As Spring, in Coming Together: Al Fresco,  I'm not only giving a little background to the story, but you can read some of the story. You might get drenched!

If you leave a comment on each day (the whole month of February) you'll get a chance to win a $50 gift certificate from All Romance ebooks and a Kindle Fire! The schedule and links is on the left at Lisabet's blog.

After April Showers

The sun is warm today and this weekend we're supposed to get our first taste of real heat. But the other day it was cold and rainy. Must be Spring.

I'm about to head outside (too bad not into the picture above), but I wanted to post an excerpt from my story that appears in the just-released Coming Together: Al Fresco, which you can purchase here.

From Wet As Spring by Robin Elizabeth

She stepped gently, pushing aside a fern that was as tall as her waist. She came to a shaded bower formed by the entangled branches of a myrtle and and old tanoak. In the shelter beneath the branches, clover clustered in the dapples of sun. She imagined deer bedding down here. She could hear the gushing of the stream, swollen with last week's rain. She reached up and plucked a leaf from the myrtle and crushed it between her fingers to release the sharp, pungent scent. She wished her husband was with her. At the thought, a flush spread over her whole body. I'll bring him here she thought.

...

She felt his hand moving slowly down across her stomach, down her thigh to the hem of her dress, then moving beneath the cloth, back up her leg. Her breath came faster and her muscles tightened in anticipation. But his hand steered wide and came up onto her belly. She quivered. He knew what this did to her, this teasing.

He unbuttoned the front of her dress. The cotton fabric fell open, and she could feel the sun, filtered by the leaves, on her bare skin.

Celebrate Earth Day Al Fresco!

Today's the day! Coming Together: Al Fresco is available, and my first (!!!) longer published story "Wet As Spring" is in it! (I know, I'm using lots of !!!!!! - but I'm excited!)

The latest in Alessia Brio's charity anthology series, Coming Together: Al Fresco features stories in which the action takes place without a bed... or a bedroom. All proceeds benefit Conservation International. GREEN is the new black!

I'll have a little excerpt on another day, plus I'm planning on giving away an ecopy (not sure that's a word, but what the hell)  - but I gotta figure all that out and just don't have the time this morning.

false alarm

I'd thought this would be my 100th post. There was a post I didn't post - so my next post will be my 100th post.

here's what I wrote - I'm gonna leave it up. Shit, and I don't even have the excuse that Sommer has.

I didn't realize that until I went to type this. And all I'm doing is trying to play catch-up to getting my Trollop With A Laptop flasher contest entries caught up. All I can say is I'm having fun with this blog and am just tickled that folks are reading it and enjoying it. Even when it's a bit on the heavy duty side. I'm not at all organized with it. I've got all sorts of ideas for things I want to do with it. ;-)

I do know that I want to get a new Beginner's Ball up - maybe tomorrow if I can get my shit together later to write it. And then this Wednesday - Earth Day - Coming Together: Al Fresco will be available - and my first long story, "Wet As Spring" will be published!!! I remember when I first announced it, April seemed so far away. Now it's here. So I gotta figure out something to do for that. And I need to get my ass in gear and submit more. It's almost as if I was waiting for it to come out to make sure this is all real. Okay, so it's still early on Sunday morning and I'm probably not making much sense.

And guess what? I really don't have time to post the story right now - I'll have to do that later. Wow - a hundred posts. I'm a blabbermouth aren't I?

Really not that neat

It all started over at Alison Tyler's blog - nasty pictures of bare, raw words - sent in by the writers of those words - in notebooks, on papers, with drawings, without. Soon a new blog was born, Scruffy Jottings About Filth. So, how could I resist? First AT turned me into a button slut, now I sent her a picture of my surprisingly un-scruffy jottings. And really, I'm not that neat. My notebooks are hardly legible at times. But every now and then I get into a groove and I just write and what shows up on the page is pretty neat. And ya know, I'd never really noticed that before. But honestly, I'm not all that neat - my handwriting is pretty lousy - oh, it looks good from a distance, hehehe. But sometimes I have trouble reading it. But I know, you don't believe me.

The little notebooks are really just that - NOTE books. I carry one with me all the time - in my purse on in my pocket when I don't have a purse with me. When I walk I'll get ideas and I keep a little golf pencil tucked in the notebook so I can jot whatever it is down. Then the white-paged notebook is an old one - from 1991, when I wrote the story that eventually will be published in Coming Together: Al Fresco. The other notebook has some of the writing exercises I did in Rachel Kramer Bussel's Erotica 101 class. Umm, maybe it's just that I'm neat when I'm writing about sex. ??? Interesting.

Anyhow - I figure I'm in trouble now - AT has a new blog, The Boudoir Blog, and she wants pictures of our beds. And do I have the picture for that!

Break out the bubbly!

I got my first acceptance!

What was going to be a rant from me today on the topic of corporate BDSM (at my hubby's job - they're yanking his chain - don't get me started - nobody is having fun and there is no safe word) has instead morphed into a happy dance.

My story Wet as Spring will be included in Coming Together: Al Fresco (there's the pre-order page) and I'm so excited that I can't contain myself.

I wish I knew how to get the cover picture on here, but since I'm new at this - though I guess
no longer Extra Virgin - I'll just have to stick with links.

                                                             Hey! I did it!

It's coming out on Earth Day and I'm so excited (did I already say that?) to have my first published story be in one of Alessia Brio's Coming Together Anthologies.

I could blabber on for ages, but I have to go help get a broken-down truck home. Actually, to tell the truth, I didn't get champagne, but this. Trader Joe's had it - they'd just put it on the shelf 2 hours before I was in there today.

Oh shit! I have to write a bio!
