Inspired

Yesterday was an inspiring day in blogland. If you want to read all about it, go to Sommer's blog - she's done a review. One thing that got us all going was P.S. Haven's incredible erotic art. And one of his pieces, Expectations, got to me enough that I ended up writing a short poem, an ekphrastic/found poem. I just used images and some words/phrases of his text and rearranged until it started touching on what it is about his piece that draws me in to the extent it does.

Anyhow, here's the piece by P.S. Haven - (his etsy page linked here) and then the poem. I used his watermarked image on purpose.

Expectations

hands
grip
arms
sheets
words
what if?
not real
never tell
never see
swear
ready
I'm not afraid

Oh, and later today I'll have a new installment of Beginner's Ball - so check back later!

I love it, Robin! I read the story that inspired this last night and it's interesting to see how words that inspired a visual piece inspired new words--like a game of artistic telephone!

Wow, Robin! I love it!
I am hugely honored and flattered and extremely humbled by this. I love that something I did could inspire you this way. Thank you so, so much!!

Robin,
That's so cool. Great, actually.

Good for you.

p.s. Haven's art work inspired me to do other things, but writing wasn't one of them. LOL!

Beautiful, Robin! This is my favorite of Haven's, too!

Donna - I love "artistic telephone" - I'm so curious to read the story.

pshaven - you're most welcome. I'm hoping you don't sell the original before I win the lottery. ;-)

Neve, haha, knowing which of Haven's pieces you liked, I can just imagine! ;-) LOL! And thanks. :-)

Marina, thanks. Yeah, and can you believe he said this has been "just lying around" for awhile?

Robin - you've got to run over to Haven's website and read the story! It's If You Love Something Set It Free - wow!

Wow, that's fabulous... Haven must be beside himself to see what his art has inspired! One of my friends read about a dream I posted and wrote me a poem based on that. I just love how ideas take off.

Who knows where inspiration will strike next?

XXX,
Alison

Hey!
Thank you so much, guys. Glad you liked the story, Marina! Here you go, Robin: http://www.pshaven.com/free.htm (I suppose I coulda actually linked to it in my original post, but I ain't smart like that)
I know I sound like a broken record, but the feedback has been hugely encouraging for me. And your poem was amazing, Robin.
And yeah, Alison, this has been awesome. I saved all the nice things everyone has said so I can go back and read it when I'm feeling like a creative chump.

Thanks Alison. And I remember that post. Yeah, I'm fascinated by the whole "where'd it come from" thing. That's a technical term, ya know.

And thanks pshaven - I'd already found it. ;-) And I must say, I did like it. Lots.

Okay, blogger's been weird all day, being very slow letting me know there are comments. Usually they are right there. I just looked, and no notice of pshaven's last comment. Weird.
